Turpin

Jean Francois Turpin (1724–1840) was born in Calvados and died in Paris. He painted over 6.000 water color pictures depicting botanic themes. Like Redouté, he was sponsoredf by Charles L’Heritier. 420 of his pictures have been etched into copper plates. In 1833, these hand colored etchings were published in an important textbook.
