Pierre Joseph Redouté (1797–1840), also known as the »Raffael of the flowers« lived in Paris. Redouté was a painter of flowers and a copperplate engraver. He drew the most beautiful flowers from the garden »Malmaison« for Marie Antoinette and the empress Josephine. He became famous for his multi colour prints of lilies and roses. Louis Tessier (1719–1781) co-worked with Boucher on Gobelin tapestry and also was a much asked for painter of flowers. His 4 images of vases and baskets filled with flowers are among his most beautiful ones. They were etched in copper by Avril.
